  1. Heater controls mounted - all silver cadmium plated Both rear quarter panel trims were mounted. New headliner mounted. Front part is not mounted because the windshield has to go in first. That's one of the next tasks: front and rear windshields.
  2. You should try some of Peugeot's newer cars, the interiors are very innovative these days. We drove a 2019 208 all over Europe, Britain and Ireland earlier this year. The 508 sedan and 3008 are quite elegant, in a modern way.
  3. Since then I've mounted the forward side panels, put some black carpet-like insulation behind the Sofica heater unit and re-threaded the two stripped driver's seat captive nuts. This coming weekend the headliner should be professionally installed and then I can do the front and rear glass (I hope, without help).

  7. Original Italian rubber mats glued in on the passenger side. 53 years old and still in good shape. Driver's side should be done Sunday though I will have to repair the tiny stainless steel cover between the sill rubber and rear seat area rubber, barely visible on the passenger side. On the driver's side it needs to be ground down smooth and polished due to seat belt damage.
  8. Opposite side is done. Small black dot is for the passenger grab handle screw. There were lots of holes drilled into the stainless steel strips by a previous owner so I just glued some small screw heads in them to make them slightly less obvious. I'd like eventually to get better ones to use, but I don't feel the need to anytime soon.
  9. I mounted the sill trims (stainless steel) yesterday. And today I retrimmed the driver's door panel in vinyl to match the seats. It turned out well, despite me being an amateur. Next: passenger side....

  12. The left fender peak trim is also on and now the rear roof trim as well. The clips that hold the trim on have teeth that bite into the body seam so all were treated with a thick goop of Waxoyl before installing, to protect the metal.
  13. Hmm yeah. Not worth trying to save I think - they're not worth anything and the cost of rust repair alone would be immense. Plus the rear beam is probably shot, so it's a job for Sisyphus. Curious though, what's the VIN?

  15. I had to drill two new holes in my brand new rear fender to mount the stainless steel trim at the peak of the rear fender. Stressful! I broke a small drill bit but didn't damage any visible part of the fender. So it worked well and now only the left side remains to be done.

  17. I have some. They started selling here in mid-1958 through Peugeot Canada Ltée, but there is some evidence that they were here much earlier than that, through ephemeral distribution channels. Peugeot Canada Ltée folded in 1983, when Chrysler took over distribution of the 505. In 1988 Autolion Distribution took on the 405 and then folded in 1990, when Peugeot USA took over for the one year long swan song.   20. During my visit this past week with my friend in France, he passed me a small metal box full of recipe cards with old membership records of Le Club 404 from the span 1984-1987. On the cards were owner names, location and in most cases the VIN data of the car(s) owned by the members. After reviewing them, it turned out that there were 106 new ones. Whether these cars exist today or not is not known, because the data is so stale. But even if they're not around now, they are at least recorded with their last known owners.   21. Picked up the pump today: new plungers and barrels had to be fitted as mine had been damaged by corrosion due to inactivity over several decades. The car would have run with the old ones but the replacements will be much better.
  22. We've been in Europe since the end of April and I brought one 404C part with me: this injection pump. We dropped it off two weeks ago at Nottingham Diesel Services where Steve rebuilt it (it was in good condition overall anyway) and tested/adjusted it on the flow bench. We will pick it up Tuesday I expect (we are still in Ireland with our new Peugeot 208 GT Line as this is typed) and that's one more part that is ready to go back into the 404C.
