i don't have the money to do all the internal work in order to put a bigger turbo on, its not like you could just get a much larger then stalk turbo and just slap it on there and call it good theres a lot more to be done then just the turbo.

Cheapest thing would be to use the turbo off the 86 and swap the rad hoses since it's a water cooled turbo...

BTW - the Pug turbo's have their own casting so finding a turbo is a little harder since it needs to be off a 505 gas turbo to just bolt on.

I've got a turbo that's on my 85' turbo that needs a rebuild - rebuild kits are cheap and easy to install if you can't find anything else. (I'm putting a water cooled turbo I rebuilt on it.)

i was thinking about putting the 86 turbo on mine but i wasn't sure if it would work but i guess it will :-) would putting the 86 turbo on my 85 make it a bit slower??

If anything it'd spool faster so the car would actually feel faster since you're running stock boost levels. The smaller AR will have faster response than the one that's in it currently.

Just remember that all the coolant lines need to swap over as well since it's water cooled - but the turbo itself will just bolt up. Also check the 86's turbo for axial play of the turbine shaft - there should be very little for it to be considered good. If there's significant play it should get a rebuild kit before it goes in.

If there's too much play the turbines will hit the housing and destroy themselves - and then the turbo has to be professionally rebuilt. If you catch it soon enough - you can rebuild them for cheap!

BTW - did you ever sort out your injector problem?

I have a good used one that I pulled a couple of years ago. Pretty sure that I have hoses too. $150. If it gets you out of a jam, fine, otherwise I will just hang on to it, in case I need it. Gives you something to work with, anyway. I might even have an intercooler and piping, but that would be extra. Probably have an extra intercooler grill and scoop, too. Let me know.
