[Peugeot-L] disributors - magneto marelli

hi

my 1990 carburettor 2 litre wagon needs a distributor cap. the book in the local parts store lists Bosch and Ducellier options as distributor. my distributor is magneto marelli. as it happens i am in the UK, and have tracked down the cap and the roto for $25NZ new, whereas in new zealand they wanted $200 for the cap and a couple of weeks for it to float over from italy.

i also need to a get the vacuum advance. available in the UK for £15, but a 10 day wait - and i fly away home on tuesday. does anyone have an idea what else i can use?

and are there any stories about marelli distributors? like why a french car in a former british colony should have an apparently oddball distributor?

and, can i just get a bosch distributor assembly and bolt it straight on so tha i can use VW golf parts?

and so on.

take care
