RE: [Peugeot-L] re Peugeot-Mitsubishi Tieup (or Trap?)

Mitsu fell into their own trap. They were much more aggressive and long-term on their zero down, zero interest deal.

They've done a LOUSY job of branding. What does Mitsubishi mean? What do you think of when someone says Mitsubishi?

Some people know of the daring VR4 hotrods of the early 90s. Some people know of the Eclipse and Spyder. But their marketing is almost as bad as Infiniti's.

That coupled with a general lackluster lineup spelled disaster on the showroom floor.

I don't think M-B was in a position to change that.

One thing is for sure, I'd rather trust Peugeot's ability to craft a brand than Mitsubishi. Although we all know how far Peugeot must go to regain their trust with the American buyer. If Hyundai can come back from the dead, then surely a well known, historically significant carmaker such as Peugeot can.

Too bad PSA eviscerated Citroen. Citroen has some sexy proven technology and designs that seem gone from today's offerings. Peugeot needs "the vision thing"...

Sounds more to me like PSA has been lured into a trap. They think if Renault and Carlos Ghosn can rescue a fat mismanaged Japanese car company then they can too. But they don't have a genius like Carlos that I've ever heard of.

Could be the end of PSA by the time its done. DC at least had the brains to bail out before they were sucked dry. It'll be interesting to watch what happens.
