Manually lifting the pedal off the floor has no effect on what I see in the engine compartment. With the battery tray removed, I see that the cable remains wherever I left it, regardless of pedal position. Cable feels like I could pull it entirely out of the sheath.

Looking at the pedal clip from the floor mat viewpoint, as I move the pedal up and down manually I see the cable moving as if it is properly attached to the pedal. Thus, it seems that the cable must be broken. (I would expect that if the clip was broken, I would see the cable flopping loosely around the clip. Correct?

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to get a new clutch cable even if it isn't broken. Either way, I'm going to have to do the pedal clip job. Right?
