OK! Yesterday, I noticed that the trip odometer, AND the mileage
odometer stopped working at 190,234 miles, however, the speedo still
records erratically most of the time and smoothes out after, 60 and
above. When I bought the car a couple weeks ago, this wasn't
happening, the speedo was smooth through out the range. How do I make
things right? (What is the best way to get to the dash so I may have
access to the speedo and clean and or replace faulty mechanisms)? I
ask since I'm waiting for a shop manual---
Also, I discovered these turbos are overhead cams, according to a
website, is this true?
I would like to add an additive to the motor oil, however, I am of the
school that thinks, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but I believe in
preventative maintenance, and life extension. There are many products
out on the market which claim, like snake oil, to restore and maintain
the engine. I would like to know from real world experience, people's
favorite additives. For example, Marvel Mystery oil for added to the
gas tank or the crank case, or NOT AT ALL?!
I'm reaching out since this engine has nearly 200,000 miles and I have
heard that "synthetics anything, TPFE, teflon" may be detrimental, and
products made from fossils, like RESTORE, etc are OK- I simply would
like "real-world" experiences from the group.
So if you don't mind, responding, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, again
Vince
