[Peugeot-L] '86 505 GL electrical short?

I've found that the trunk light is a likely culprit because you can't see if it is on when the trunk is closed
Get someone you trust to close the trunk with you in it or better yet close your motherinlaw in the trunk If she can find her way out then the light is probably staying on.

Blown tell-tale lamp in the dash is a possibility. The lamp is part of the charging circuit which supplies excitation current and it's absence prevents the alternator from being "kick-started". The other way to "start" the alternator is rev the motor to 2 or 3 thousand rpm.

Here's the deal.
rebuilt alternator.
new battery.
If not driven at least every other day, battery goes down. Pull #5 fuse (radio mem, locks,clock etc)and all's OK. Radio removed...didn't help.
Any ideas?
