I've always used a simpler no tools method on my N9TE, don't know if it works on other engines. Seems to work fine:

Use the car locally, low speed only for about 5 trips with time for it to get stone cold between each trip. Each time before you drive take off the radiator cap and fill it to overflowing, and top off the bottle to the maxi mark too. That's it.

This works because the radiator is a high point, and its much lower coolant velocity so the air bubbles can rise there, so the air gets swept out of the engine to the rad. during operation.
