At the dealership where I worked, they would cut a nice little access
hole into the inner wheel well, then bend back the sheetmetal when they
were done.
Being a wannabe purist, at first I was incredulous about this practice,
but after replacing a few cmcs the traditional way [by feel], it
started to make more sense. [time=$, and frustration priceless?]
Afterall, the hole doesn't affect structural integrity too much if any
and the cut can be dressed [to close the gap at the seam] w some bodygoop,
available at any NAPA store.
