Code 52 should really read, "check the o2 sensor...it's most likely plugged in, but one or more of the wires has an intermittant connection."

The 89 and 91 8v ECUs are the same I think. You can verify yourself by checking that all important Bosch part number on the outside of the ECU housing.

You might also try unplugging and reseating the AFM connection. I had some running problems attributed one pin that would push out of the connector when you plugged it back in. Holding it by the wire (inside the rubber sheath) while plugging back in ensured connectivity and the problem was gone.

I don't think it's an ECU....I think it's most likely wiring. 405 wiring gets crispy over time.
