Temporarily jumper the fuel pump relay and see what happens. If you do this, and it's still not starting, check the voltage on the pump, if it's there, but the pump isn't running, then you've found the problem!

I had a 505 Wagon once, where the scavenger pump died, (as in all my 505's) and then later developed a leak on the hose in the tank, such that it would suck air when the tank was below 1/2, and buck and jerk wildly on turns. My present wagon doesn't have a working scavenger, and the only symptom is the pump "gurgles" a bit when the tank gets below 1/4, but it never runs poorly. Anyway, I guess my point is that fuel problems on fuel injected cars can have many symptoms.
