Just a little query- on the '87 505's: I had a V6 STX, and it also had a fuel pump in the
gas tank. My '87 turbo doesn't have that extra pump in the tank.
Is this a mod, or is it the way it came? I vaguelly remember them switching 505 gas
tanks at the P dealership years ago for some sort of recall but my info is scant and the
memory is fuzzy ??.
My fuel pump on the turbo seems a bit more noisy than necessary, but it's fine. I mean,
it works, but maybe it works a little too hard (?) It seems noisier than what could be, but
then, I'm a purist. I know what it sounds like when everything is working, meaning that
you can't hear it.
You know, I found out that the fuel comes from the bottom of the tank, as opposed to
coming out the top.
I don't have an aversion to replacing that aux pump. I'm thinking that if I retrofitted with
the dual pump tank, I would imagine it to be a good upgrade. VW-Pierburg fuel pumps-
cheap thrills.
