It's my understanding that only ABS equipped cars have the nil-offset
suspension that is different from other 505's, but maybe someone else on the
list knows for sure?
Rob (on this list) probably has the bearings and nuts.... Rob?

Hello Phil,
I really thank you for putting some light for me on the front wheel bearing
replacement.
As it appears,I better have two new spindle nuts as well.By the way,do you
remember where did you buy your parts for this job? Were they original
Peugeot parts or can I get them from a specialized bearing supplier? Also,
does it makes a difference as my 89 does not have ABS?
Take care.
Willy

Yes, I have done this too. The spindle nut is unbelievably large! It has
a "collar" which is dimpled (smashed) into 2 flat grooves that are machined
into the spindle. This means you must replace the nut as well. I had
little trouble removing the old bearing, except for the inner race which was
a little stuck. A small amount of heat on it, and it slid right off.
Installing the new bearing was also not that difficult, I used the old outer
race and bearing case as drifts to help push the new bearing on without too
much trouble.
I can't remember the size of the socket, but it's huge. I have seen large
trucks with much smaller nuts!
After this, I washed all the grease off the old bearing parts and put them
back together (there was little plastic yoke that came in the new one) and
used it as a desk toy for many years. Often it would be a good conversation
starter because of it's massive size. I'm not kidding!!!
