[Peugeot-L] Re: 89 405 Mi16 - rough idle, buzzing fuel pump
OnI went ahead and checked the compression as was suggested today.
Cylinders 1-3 are all within 5 of 200 PSI. The 4th showed 170, but
that may have been because it was the last one I checked and the
battery was getting a bit flat. I squirted oil into that cylinder,
and it went up to 250 PSI. I'll drive it around a bit and then
recheck them.
The car still idles poorly and shakes really bad. It kind of seems
like it's running lean at idle. I swapped out the idle control valve
Onand the entire airbox from my good running Mi16, and it made no
difference. Anything else I can check next?
There is also another problem that maybe you guys can offer some
help about. The car heats up very quickly. The fans come on slowly
within just a couple minutes of the engine being started, and they
come on full blast within 5 minutes. The inside temp sensor never
even gets up to 190 like my other 405 does. Also, the radiator is
still super cold when they come on! I think I'll replace the
thermostat and flush the cooling system, but are there any other
temp sensors I should test or replace? I see at least 3 sensors on
the thermostat block, but I don't know which one does what. I think
this is probably related to the idle.
