Check for air or vacume leaks. One method I have read about is to use propane torch (not lit!) and run the tip blowing propane all along the air intake plenum, around vacume hoses, gaskets, etc. If the idle speeds up or smooths out, you've found your air leak. You still need to check fuel pressure- you mentioned earlier that the fuel pump screeches. Also fuel delivery- you should be able to fill a pint jar in about 15 seconds.
