I posted a week or two ago that the climate control on my current Mi16 was operating a bit strangely, occasionally giving me a sudden blast of cold air as if someone opened a window. To my relief, it's not the flap motor.
Somewhere in the car's life before me, someone disconnected the cable that connects the outside air slider control to the air flap that is located in the bulkhead under that black plastic thing that carries the "Made in France" sticker. This flap, when opened, tosses outside air directly onto the heater fan. It weighs next to nothing. Without the control wire to hold it closed (as I would normally have it), an odd wind current can come along and pull it open, putting a blast of cold air into the mix. My solution: stuff an old towel into the opening. Now it works like every 405 c.c. I've owned.
The temperature in my garage hasn't been over 30 degrees in a few weeks; I'll get that cable hooked back up come Spring.
Ya gotta wonder how this situation happened in the first place.
