[Peugeot-L] 84 505 (smoking) update

Once I got the car started it smoked and smoked for an embarrassingly long period of time. I drove it a few miles and the smoke subsided. I wanted to make sure that it would no longer smoke because, on reassembly, I noted a leak in the radiator and wanted to make sure that the engine was okay before paying for a re-core or repair and tube cleaning.

When I took the car off the road last month it idled perfectly and, aside from the smoke, ran well. Now that it is back together with a re-done head, a new oxygen sensor, all rocker pieces piece-mealed and detail cleaned it idles roughly.

        Questions are:

1. Why does it run so badly now that everything is new and clean?
2. Could the new oxygen sensor be a/the reason it idles roughly?
3. Other than timing (which is dead on) are there other adjustments
(fuel injection) that could even out the idle? 4. What kind of tool should I get to work with the idle screw (not the long allen key, which I have, but the screw that looks like it requires some sort of spanner)?
5. Though I am beyond this part, how does one find an electrical point so that one can static time the car? This was VW beetle easy on my 404 and 504's, but totally confusing on the 505. Thanks,
Ken
