I had the same thing happen to my 87 v6 in the middle of Colorado. I got
the car to a shop off the interstate where a very kind Amish mechanic drove
to the store I had stopped at, then agreed to bring my car ahead of the
scheduled work at his shop on a Saturday.
He didn't have a suitable replacement hose, so I suggested cutting the hose
either side of the cut area and installing a short piece of exhaust tube
that had a reasonably close fit inside the hose. A hose clamp on each
side and that did the trick. I drove the 700 miles home without incident
and without overheating.
Once home, I inspected by other 87 v6 and saw exactly the same wear, but no
hole as yet.
Clearly this quick repair could restrict coolant flow, so I did buy two
replacement hoses from Rob Courtier at Javel in Dallas, 972 669 2425. I
think age causes the problem, but I'll keep an eye and tie up the lower hose
if it begins to sag.

Subject: Fw: [Peugeot-L] Radiator hose quick fix
I use a couple tie wraps to hoist the lower hose up a bit.
It is a design problem that gets worse as the hoses get saggy

Subject: [Peugeot-L] Radiator hose quick fix
Hi all, changed both belts (steering and water pump/alternator) on my
V6 a week ago, noticed coolant leaking a couple of days later, finally got
round to checking it out properly today. Discovered that the steering pump
pulley has worn a small hole in the lower radiator hose. Western Hemishperes
has none in stock. Does anyone know where I can get a new one? or know of a
quick fix for the hose so my girlfriend can at least use the car till I can
find one??
cheers
Richard
