Hi Francois,
Have you checked to see if the #1 is firing at the timing mark properly? (You should be able to put a timing light on it while cranking and see if the engine is timed correctly). No reason whay it should have moved - but it will eliminate the possibility.
If your getting spark - then I'd try a little bit of ether in the intake somewhere to see if you can get it fire. (WD40 makes a good primer too - less volitile than ether - but ether will make sure if there's spark it'll fire.)
If you've confirmed spark, and if you prime it - then there's no reason it shouldn't go. (Smelling gas may not mean it's actually getting it.)
Can you confirm the injectors are firing?
Sorry - just bouncing ideas - nothing concrete to offer.
Rabin

Alright, just went back to check. First, I messed up on my notes. wire
20 is brown, not light blue. I finally tracked it down to the connector
near the battery. It has an intermittant contact apparently. Sometimes I
get something (hence the spark on the strobe unit), sometimes I get
nothing. I cleaned the contact and I now get 12V at the 2 relays. I had
also tracked a light blue wire but this is for the starter wire.
So you'd think I'm home free, but alas, it wont start. I smell gas after
cranking. I hear the fuel pump. I get spark. What in the world?? Help!
