ASC makes (made?) aftermarket sunroofs, and they are usually a bit smaller than the OEM. I wouldn't try to transplant it, I've worked on those, it would be a major pain in the ass.

The dealer in Dallas was Doran not Moran. They are still there as a Chevy dealer under some other name, but they didn't have many Peugeot parts left last time I checked (about 4 years ago).

You can fix the cable end, but you have to remove the back part of the headliner and a fiberboard piece to do so. It's not too difficult, but it really sucks that you have to.

My father (also on this list) did a "manual conversion" on his. He added a small "handle" and you simply move the handle to unlock the sunroof then slide it where you want it. Maybe he can tell you how he did it.
