Hello Mike,

to avoid misunderstandings:

There will be no GENERAL legislation that forbids the ownership and the usage of classic cars.

BUT the EU has decided on a new program for "clean air" and this means they have set up some values for various toxic elements and whenever these values are exceeded in a certain area, the city where this happens is responsible - and can be sued by the inhabitants! - to do anything to reduce these emissions.

E.g. they have some value for NOx and when the probes register that this allowed NOx value is exceeded in, say, Berlin for more than 35 days a year, then they MUST do something to reduce it.

Currently they can only do so by forbidding the use of old cars, and also putting some restraints on older industries or, theoretically, even the heaters in houses.

At least in Germany, some big "green" organisations have said they WILL sue any city whenever this 35 days limit is exceeded.

This will NOT mean that the use of an old car is GENERALLY prohibited in the whole country. But there will most definitely be days when old cars WILL be prohibited in big cities and on various days.

regards
Thomas
