Who is Phil?Back 8 years ago I was originally part of Jim Lill's Vectorboard list (http://vectorbd.com/peugeot/), I didn't find this list until recently. (you can still find many of my posts and how-to articles from those days in google searches)
I blame my father (also on this list) for getting me started in Peugeots. He spent some time in France as a boy, and the cars made enough of an impression to motivate him to purchase a 504 for the family some years later. I was about 14, and this was the first Peugeot I had seen.
Since then I have had a number of cars and also caused many of my friends to get bitten by the Peugeot bug. I have worked on many 505's, a couple of 405's, and even a 604.
I am 36, live in the San Francisco Bay Area (Berkeley) and my background is electronics. Because of this, I happen to be coincidentally well equipped to deal with one of the biggest Achilles heels in the 405 and 505; Electrical problems!
I love the idea of the internet helping to bring all of us Peugeot owners together in the US. We really don't seem to have enough "critical mass" in any other way to form a club or group where we can help one another out. The email list has enabled us to all find each other and pool our knowledge and resources.
The only Peugeot I still have is a '86 505 Turbo Wagon (N9TE). It presently has a blown head gasket, but it otherwise in decent shape. Hopefully soon I will get it back on the road....
