I had a door latch like this the car had been rust proofed and
they had gotten the goop up into the mechanism.
A couple cans of carb cleaner chased with a solvent spray WD40 and then 10-30 did the trick
I believe it was Tough-Cote

Hi,
Seems that the general consensus is to look into the mechanism, see if
it is clogged up with gunk.
I got the door to open by pushing/pulling and general persuasion, but it
is still stiff, so it looks like I should plan on cleaning things up to
get it working better.
Koll, do you think it is possible to get the mechanism cleaned up
without removing it?
Thanks,

Posted a short write-up on how I did this job (although mine did open
initially):
http://505.bestmessageboard.com/?vThreadID=43
It works so beautifully now. Before it was like opening a crypt. The
doors don't get used very often and it's on the outer side of the door
seal rubber - so it gets a dust/dirt bath everytime you drive the car.
Even though it's inside the door, the latch gets a small dose of road
grive through the outer latch.
I didn't take too many pictures, but I plan on doing the right-rear side
and will document it fully.
Hope it helps someone.
