Had a similiar problem on a 85 GL Wgn, neigher lever would open the door. I
got the panel off with the door shut and got the mechanism working ok, but
every time I locked the door the problem would recur, so I raised the lock
tab and put a small screw in it so it could not be depressed. Of course I
cannot lock the door, but I have had no problem opening it for the past ten
years or so. Paul
