all,

i am posting this for someone i know. she's not at all mechanical and i told her i would post this and field the inquiries. pictures are in the photos section, in a album with my name.

she loves this car and drove it until late 2003 as her daily driver. she's the second owner. it has always been garaged. it is her second 505 wagon, the first one having been totalled in an accident that saved her life. (hit by a speeding tow truck)

she stopped using it because she had children and felt it was "not reliable enough." it was still driving fine when she parked it in late 03. i asked her why she felt is was unreliable when she herself had talked about using another 505 in the desert, and she said this one "had a tendency to overheat and i just couldn;t take the risk of breaking down somewhere with the kids."

it's a 505GL. color is silver, has 83,000 miles, automatic, NO RUST, dark blue leather seats with no cracks that i could see, an alpine cassette player and allegedly good speakers, and she says she has two winter tires to go with it.

this car is free to the right home, but here's the catch -- she is very attached to it and wants to be sure it will be appreciated, loved, cared for, not parted out.

i am to collect email responses and then i suppose she'll talk to people by phone. the car is in a garage right now but i'm sure the battery is flat. i asked her if she thought it could be driven out under its own steam and she shrugged her shoulders. all she can say is that she drove it in there and parked it, and bought a different car when "the portuguese guys who used to take good care of it for me closed down their operation."

therefore it needs to go to someone relatively local, who can come look at it and suss out its viability. i'm a cit guy, not a pug guy, but to my eye the body looks to be in remarkably good shape, just covered with dust. paint seems to be in good shape, and there is no rust, dark blue leather seats will need some cleaning and leatherique, but no cracks. no rust on the underside. i didn;t check the dipstick to see whether any coolant in there but i suppose that would be an early thing to check.

i would adopt it myself but i would rather wait and get another DS, so am passing this on to the list.

serious inquiries in the form of emails to bruce@brucekennettstudio.com and i'll pass them on.
