For older Peugeots-- 504 and Before--- USE Dot 5 Silicone Brake
fluid,, it is a Lubricant as well as a brake fluid and has NO Effect
on NBR rubber that was present in all 404's, 304's, 204's 403's and
early 504 French Lockheed brake systems, as well as some Girling
systems-- NBR rubber...
USA Dot 3 fluid is Incompatable in ANY Peugeot and will actually
Expand the rubber on long term contact, and soften the remaining rubber
Dot 4 fluid Castrol Brake fluid has Not served me well with long term
sitting Peugeots, but I have had ZERO problems with Silicone brake fluid
Dot 5 is EXPENSIVE and NOT to be used in ABS systems because it will
bubble under pulsations
Kanter Auto Products has it for $59 a gallon and is well worth it if
you have a Keeper Car!!!!!
Joe Wagner-- with Silicone DOT 5 in some of my 404's and in all my
Renault Alliance/Encore and GTA cars....
My Mazda truck too....
this is what it does...
Prevents rust and corrosion in hydraulic systems...
the Major Cause of Failure.
It does not absorb moisture like glycol based fluid will.
It is compatible with all brake fluids and systems, including American
and British brake systems.
