i was thinking something along these lines too, but it was only a few years ago we made the last move and it's great since then.

yahoo isn't great, but it works, and its always up. don't get me
wrong, i'm all for going to a 'real' open source style mailing list
like mailman or majordomo. but what would suck is if half the list
migrated, and half just didn't. there aren't tons of us enthusiasts
left, so its nice to keep one main location for resources.
