Re: [Peugeot-L] Mi16 no spark

the ecu sends a signal to the ignition amplifier which collapses the field in the coil that sends the juice down the high tension wire to the center of the distributor cap it goes in through the brush to the rotor through a resistor whence it jumps across a gap to the electrode out of the cap along the HT wire to the spark plug where it jumps the gap and makes spark.

There is a diagnostic flow chart for the motronic ignition in the manual. It starts with trying an inductive timing light. This I tried along with everything else. Eventually I changed the coil and the car hasn't quit yet. That was 5 years ago. The ignition amplifier, aka transistor unit, on the side of the battery boxette is a distant second but still a failable.

What sends the signal to tell the spark plugs to spark in an Mi16?   Does the signal come from the ECU?
