What's even more funny is that the "VIN" is not a number anyway.... It is a "Vehicle Identification String" or maybe "Vehicle Identification Alphanumeric Sequence".

Maybe they should have just called it "VI" as people are going to always add the "number" to the end anyway.

Personally I like "UASS". (Unique Automotive Sequence String) =)
