Please advice me on a checklist of things to look out for before
purchasing a 1994 405 GLD. I will be going to check out the car this
week sometime. I have already seen the car and other than a paint job,
what I could see were the following things:
The rear RHS brake cylinder needs replacement, as it is leaking and it
has become innefective. The mechanic here says that a new set of seals
will do the job. Will that do?
The engine is showing signs of piston ring wear. However, there is no
blue smoke or black smoke upon hard revving. Oil seems to be leaking
from the cam cover area and at the spot where the dipstick enclosure
meets the block. Also, there is air coming out of the dipstick
enclosure. Sinc I have yet to drive it, I cannot say if the engine is
showing enough power or not. (I know this engine, as my 91 309GLD had
the same engine).
Please advice me on other things that I should be looking out for
before I purchase, since I am in India and getting spares is not easy..
I will go by the list that all you experts suggest, since you are the
most reliable source of info about PUGS!!
Thanks,
