I have this same problem on my 1980 505 SD, and I'm told it's common
on that car, but I haven't heard of it on any Mi16s.
What I did for my 505 was to make sure everything was lubed and
adjusted properly (which I'm sure you've taken care of) and then I
placed a fairly stout spring around the inner cable between the arm it
attaches to and the bracket that holds the outer cable. I didn't even
have to take the cable off, I just wound the sring around and around
until it was in place! Now when I release the brake, even if the
caliper is a bit sticky, the extra spring forces it open!
