Be careful, because for the Japanese market, a low compression
detuned version of the 1.9 L engine was offered, with 105 HP instead
of the 130 HP the European 1.9 had, and a pretty limp cam.
I saw another one of these in White Rock a few years ago, so this is
not the only one in Canada, far from it. That other car was a bit
older of course and it also had the 1.9 engine but it was of course
the 105 HP version. I have read of several in Ontario and Québec, of
European origin.
One thing in this car's favour is the fact that the rest of the trim
is consistent with the usual European 130 HP 1.9 specification: 15"
wheels, the half leather seats, the sunroof, etc. It is conceivable
that this car may have the catalysed version of the 120 HP 1905 cc
engine. It certainly won't be the 130 HP though, not from Japan.
My advice would be to get the engine number/type and check its
specifications independently, to avoid potential disappointment.
I could whip up there this weekend if anyone wants more information.
It's only a 40 minute drive, and maybe I could take it for a spin.
Let me know...
