It has the 1.6 wheels and the set up under the hood looks exactly the same as my 1.6 GTI. The 89 and 91 GTIs in Montreal have a different set up, they are 1.9s. In 91, the wheels on the 205 GTI were the same as the 15" wheels as the MI 16 405. I parked my 205 GTI, too much fun, just can't let off that throttle and handles like a Go Kart. Will get great mileage if you can accelerate moderately ( YEA RIGHT) but if you like performance, it's there.
