This is good for 8 valve and 16 valve 405s with Bosch M1.3 Motronic Injection - Ignition This includes all USA and Canadian 405s. This is the easiest of all cars on this planet to read fault codes from no $80,000 test bench required

In front of the right front shock tower is a black plastic box Inside this box is a loose (nothing connected to it) female 2 pin Bosch connector the same as the electrical connectors to the fuel injectors Get about 16 ft of bell wire about 20 ga snip it in half strip the insulation off all 4 ends.... about 1/4" Stuff one wire into each opening in the connector Take the other ends into the drivers seat If you want to get fancy you can connect a push button to the in car wire ends Have a sit in the drives seat with a pencil and paper Turn on the ignition
Hold the 2 incar ends together for 3 seconds the light should go out and then... the check engine light should flash once pause then flash twice count the flashes before and after the pause....1 flash a pause then 2 flashes is code 12 this means that the ecu is ready to dump the codes Hold the incar ends together again for 3 sec the check light should flash again
repeat this procedure holding the ends together and counting flashes until you get code 11 this signifies that all of the fault codes have been read. Once you get to 11 you can start over but the codes once stored will stay in the ecu even if you fix the fault
Once you are positive about it all you can clear the codes by holding the ends together for 10 seconds. If you have fixed the fault and cleared the ecu codes run the car and check it again

As you may have guessed you could do this with a paper clip and a friend in a pinch

Let me know what codes you get and I will reply with the faults or if I get my scanner drivers installed again I can email the whole list of faults
