[Peugeot-L] 84 XN6 k-jetronic assistance

I have an 84 GL wagon that does not idle well and seems to, particularly when I keep a light foot on the pedal, be starving for fuel. I have an identical engined sedan that does not, under the same style of driving, exhibit any of the symptoms that my wagon does.

I bought a very thorough, though complex way over my head, Bosch f.i. book a while ago. I find it a little harder to understand T.S. Eliot's "Four Quartets" and wonder if anyone could enlighten me with an explanation as to how to adjust and diagnose the system in a manner that, say, Fred Flintstone might understand.

The car is recently tuned with new plugs, wires, valves meticulously adjusted and, what seems to be a good distributor.

Another thing that I have noticed that the car's cluster, heater control and clock lights will often flicker. The battery light never comes on when this happens.

If anyone out there can suggest a way for me to cure that kind of hunting lurching that I experience when I am not accelerating I would be very appreciative. I would also like to know how to bump up the idle a bit. Please, if any adjustments entail doing anything to that weird spanner-like screw on the front of the f.i. unit or the 3mm allen behind the air cleaner, please tell me what direction they should be turned to get the desired effect.
Thanks,
Ken
