Well after a few years of not owning a Peugeot, and going thorough
withdrawals, I saw the car that I've always wanted, a 1986 Peugeot
505 S Turbo Diesel. A beautiful silver coloured beast with grey cloth
interior. I've never owned a 2.5 TD, only the 2.3's in various forms
(a 504 SLD, a 505 GRD, and a 505 SRDturbo). The car has the 4HP22,
and it shifts like butter. Lots of power, no smoke, and has been
sitting in a garage for the last two years, but was started up
monthly. The sunroof works, as the cable was replaced, and even the
speedo works! The bad parts are few...flat spots on the tires,
antennae sticks a bit, the clock doesn't work, rear-pass. side
speaker is blown, tape player doesn't work, and the car was repainted
too - in the dark I presume by the the look of the workmanship. There
are a couple of issues with the dash, and maybe someone can help me
out here, the tachometer has a tendency to jump around like it's
having a seizure, the oil level gauge doesn't move at all, and
neither does the turbo boost gauge - it remains frozen at about 1/4
boost pressure with or without the key in the ignition. Lastly, the
water temperature gauge will work initially, but then after a few
minutes, will jump instsantly all the way to it's top resting
position, past the red zone.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. However, all I can
say, is it's damn good to be driving a Peugeot again.
Thanks in advance,
Thomas Mladenka
