Thomas,

  If there is a voltage regulator/stabilizer for the insturments, I would seriously consider that as it could and likely would impact many if not all of the gauges. If there isn't a voltage regulator supplying a reduced, but stable voltage to the gauges (like 10V), then disregard this.
