I had a similar problem. Find the relay. You have to pull both
pieces of the plastic under the steering wheel. The relay will
probably be towards the front of the car and to the left of the
steering wheel. Then loosen and remove the nut that (on some 505's)
secures the relay to a piece of metal frame and get at the plug that
connects to the relay. Unplug the relay and install a jumper wire (or
cotter pin) between terminals number 87 and 30 on the plug (the relay
has these numbers printed on it for your reference) and then try to
start the car. If the relay is bad, this should work about 100% of the
time.
BMW make a perfect match (pins and numbers) seven pin plug. For some
odd reason they have it located right under the hood of the car in a
place that Stevie Wonder would easily be able to find it. Peugeot, for
some odder reason, has chosen to conceal it. I went to the wrecking
yard looking for these relays today. All the BMW's were picked clean.
I found two six prong relays and one seven prong on a few 505's. They
were $2.99 each, about $100 less than they list at my local Peugeot
parts supplier.
