Brian,
I thought of that on the bus this morning! Because I need to bang on
the pump to get it going I bought a remote starter switch. I hooked
up the remote starter, turned the key to "on," kneeled down next to
the pump and tapped on the pump as I cranked the starter. Success!
Good thing too as the neighbors were talking of towing it.
While the car was idling I listened to the pump and it sounded like
it was rattling, like there were loose parts inside. tomorrow I'll
check for the operation of the in-tank pump by pulling it's power
wire. Is the wire easily located in the trunk?
I also plan to install a relay between the ignition switch and the
starter solenoid to take the load off of the switch. Do you know if
my failing ignition switch be repaired or do I need a new/used one?
Thanks as usual,
