I own a boat with a Peugeot diesel engine in it. The boat and engine
are 1985 vintage. The engine is 4 cylinder naturally aspirated (no
turbo) of 2.1 litres (128.9 cu. in.) displacement. It is rated as 61
HP at 4000 rpm per my manual - although I never run it at 4000 RPM -
it seems to do well in the 2400 to 3000 RPM range. I think actual HP
may be closer to 50 HP but am not sure.
The engine was adapted for boat use (different cooling system mostly)
and used in several hundred boats over the years (here in the USA).
I have heard this engine was used in small trucks and/or taxicabs but
really know nothing about it. Is this engine familiar to anyone ?
Are there any sources for service or parts in the USA - I live in
South Carolina ?
Thanks for the help.
