Normal ABS light operation:
Key in Accessory position: ABS light on
Key in On position: Light should go off, ABS operational
Key in Start position: ABS light on, ABS non-op
Key in On (after Starting): ABS light goes off, ABS operational.
Faults during normal running:
(a) ABS light on
internal fault in ecu
sensor fault
solenoid fault
bad power supply to ecu
ABS not operational.
(b) ABS and Brake lights on
brake fluid too low (2nd level of warning, first level only lights up brake light)
hydraulic pressure too low
ABS partially functional (Front ABS not operational)
When you say lights blink on and off, is this at random, and do both lights do it together or sometimes one, sometimes the other?

Also, does the ABS system on these cars fail in a mode where you have
braking underway in normal driving BUT would likely not work in a
panic stop? I have the feeling the pedal isnt what it should be and
both branke and ABS light blink on and off periodically (is my head is
in the sand on this one...?)
