[Peugeot-L] Automatic transmission question 1987 wagon

Hi everybody and thanks for past advice!

1987 505 wagon - XN6 - transmission fails to maintain enough fluid pressure to keep car in higher gears - level topped off after sympton - this helped but problem has arisen again and tranny sometimes cannot maintain power in lower gears as well.

I assume this is probably dirty filter and/or old fluid. Is this tranny similar to most with removable and cleanable filter accesible when pan is removed? And is it likely a fluid change and filter clean will do the trick? Pan gasket issues?
