Well...after 7 years of being in the Peugeot fold, my time as an owner has
drawn to a close. Just less than an hour ago, the happy new owner of my
white on dark grey 89 405 Mi16 drove it away with a trove of spares,
manuals and memories.
The new owner is a 16 year old kid, but with a dad who loves Italian
cars. Really it was as much the dad buying the car as the son. He owns a
gaggle of Alfas...164S, Milano Verde, GTV6...and has always admired the
Mi16. Also used to have a Lancia Scorpion (so did I) and various Renaults
he said.
Given that they have lots of experience with needy Italian cars, they are
wonderful new owners of my Peugeot as it needed a couple Saturdays to bring
back to snuff. Lots of little things like the rear door central locking
mechanisms...new sensor here and there...some minor exhaust work...and a
good polishing. I trust they'll have lots of fun.
All in all, I'm quite sad....maybe I'll go out for a spin in my 540i
6-speed to cheer me up. My sadness is nothing 300hp can't solve.
