RE: [Peugeot-L] 505 engine swap pictures on peugeot-l photos section

That's a Toyota inline 6.

Could be a 1GZ or a 1JZ. The smaller brother of the standard 2JZ that Toyota put into the last Supra. It's definitely a turbo engine (notice intercooler pipes) and also a hack job (notice wooden stick holding the hood up.

I've measured *closely* the engine compartment with an eye toward putting a 7M-GTE or 2JZ-GTE into a 505. Wife's car has a 5M-GE (dimensionally like the 7M) so I can line up and measure things at will.

It would be a very tight fit. There are a good six inches not available on the 505 for this engine. Either lose the A/C condenser and remount the radiator forward or somehow get it further back in the car.

If I fail in my quest for 250 RWHP from a N9T, I will go this route. I'm tending toward pushing the engine back - even if it requires modifying the firewall. Space up front is just too scarce and putting a heavier engine in there would upset the handling too much.

You will need a complete donor car as the ECU would have to come with it.

I'd like to have the best engine in the best sedan, so maybe someday I'll try it even if I get what I want out of the original Simca-based engine.
