The brass keys work just fine and everybody can cut them
the factory steel keys are not intended to be cut on a duplicating machine
You will have key guys throwing stuff at you if they ever try
The steels keys will destroy the cutting wheels
Don't waste you time with steel keys unless you have the code and get
somebody with a cutter to make them like Jessie at Dubar Automotive
Not even PMA in NJ have a factory cutter anymore theirs broke.
Dubar will cut keys to code for about $15

Being steel the advantage is that they will last a lot longer than brass
keys.

I bought mine off eBay. There are two guys who sell blanks. I bought
from the Aussie dude. The other guy I passed on. The Aussie guy had
mild steel blanks with the correct slot in it. But, being steel every
locksmith freaked out refusing to attempt to cut the key.
I did find a locksmith that could and did cut the key (Across the street
from Lake City Ford for you Seattle guys). They look very close to OEM
with the rubber portion where your fingers grip and should last a long
time. They were pretty cheap and the shipping was outstanding from
Australia.
He doesn't have a listing up now, but usually within a week he'll post
it. Here's his last:

Anyone know where to get or have any blanks for the new style 505 lock
(One
with the slot in it)?
