[Peugeot-L] Re: Found a new daily driver car

I got rid of our 98 A4 a couple years ago, what an unreliable piece of junk compared to our Peugeots. In 5 years/65k miles the troubles included the famous front suspension failures (no recall when mine happened), 3 failed radios, 3 failed cruise controls, dead turbo, failed cam belt tensioner, 6 or 7 headlight bulbs, splits in the front seats, rear disc pads so tiny they wore out before the fronts, on and on.

We switched to an L series Saturn, excellent Opel based handling, half the price of an A4, and no problems yet.

Agreed Peter. The A4 is a great Peugeot replacement. We have a 2000 A4 1.8T Avant Quattro. 5-speed, sport package, xenons, etc. It's great.

With 4 Blizzaks on it the thing is AMAZING in snow. The V6 is butter smooth but the 1.8T has more tuning potential and is lighter. I haven't done anything to our 1.8T though.

Keep and eye out for those front suspension clunks, unless you know the control arms have been changed out. If the suspension recall check hasn't been done on the car, get to an Audi dealer immediately because they have an recall check that expires soon (if it's not already expired).

Good luck with it!
