Hi, I would like to thank all the people who've helped me with keeping
my wonderful Peugeots running.
Since acquiring the '85 505 TD stationwagon I've got the brakes back
online and am now able to safely drive it around town. There are a few
more problems with the car to work through and I'm getting to them
slowly. The most pressing one right now is trying to figure out why
the car doesn't run so well upon startup.
The car starts well after a couple of tries and then settles into a
regular ilde, but after about 2 minutes warming up it basically dies.
Pushing the 'gas' pedal has no effect on revs, all I can do is wait
for about another 4-5 minutes until the engine wants to accelerate.
The car has the water heated diesel fuel filter, I'm wondering if that
might have something to do with it or maybe there's a problem with the
diesel injection pump, although this seems to work normally the rest
of the time so I've moving more towards there being some kind of
interruption in the fuel supply. I've just managed to secure a copy of
the XD2S engine manual so I'm going to check that out and see if I
can't pin down a cause for the problem.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why the car won't start better??
