Peter, I've had these same problems in the past. I don't care for the plastic connectors for these relays. I found mine to allow the actual connections to be loose, allowing dirt and corrosion to form on the contacts. I cured mine with a heavy dose of cleaning the contacts and conectors on these relays, and heat shrinking any remaining exposed connection surfaces. Dirt and corrosion aren't helping these conections, plus being in a plastic bag for moisture protection, they heat up quickly. Jeff

Are the relays for the Injection ECU and Ignition ECU different from a standard 5 pin Bosch Relay?
At some point in my learning curve I am under the impression that these relays are not the same as a 5 pin relay. These are the relays ( with other relays as well ) inside a plastic bag , drivers side behind the fuse box under the cowl.
I am having an intermittent relay problem with my ECU relays, one or both are cutting out after a long run with heat generated under the hood. The Motor cranks very strong, but either no ignition or no fuel until about a 15 minute cool - down. Then it starts up like nothing ever was wrong.
It's a bitch when you have no one else to help you, one in the car and one under the hood in this cold, damp Northeast weather. Trying to go over the 505 STI V-6 and get it ready for Carlisle Import meet in May 2006.
Any pearls of wisdom?
