Re: [Peugeot-L] Mi16 5000RPM idle

Bob,

Well, it doesn't take a whole lot of air for an engine to rev to 5k+ rpm without load, so the possibility of air leaking around the throttle plate is still the most likely. If pinching off the hoses to/from the idle stabilizer doesn't do anything, then maybe check to be sure that your throttle is closing all the way. I know it sounds simple, but that's one thing.

There has to be a leak somewhere since without the idle stabilizer, there's no real way for the engine/computer to increase the amount of air its getting otherwise. And, to free rev to over 5k, there has to be some air getting past the throttle. I doubt manifold leaks would be doing it since that would let in false air not measured by the computer and would tend to lean out the mixture which really wouldn't make the engine rev like that.

You may need to actually lay hands on it to fix it!

Regards,
Ben Pender
