Hi Richard,
wonder about your thread because the European models only had a change
in 1986 from old to new version. The newer version has a touch of 309
Phase I and often they are mixed up in E-bay-auctions over here because
the sellers HOPE it is 505 but in general they offer a 309-light.
Top1: 7242.49 is the plastic-cover between the lights for the 505 up
from 1986. 2 of them are laying at a Pug-Dealer in
Bavaria/South-Germany, 1 used one I still have at a 505 GTI 2.2 ZDJL
that I more bought for the engine-swap in my Renault-Matra Espace 2000
TXE.
Of course I also have the rear-lights for the 505 Phase II, 2 right used
ones and a new left one.
Top2: The bulb-holders later were content of a complete rear light
Richard. Peugeot used 3 (!) different producers (Signal Vision,
GEMO(Spain) AND Neiman (!) - better known for keylocks than lights ). As
long you bought a complete new one you didn´t have a choice between
these 3 versions but the glass was offered for all 3 different versions.
So, to prevent problems they simply sold 1 complete version ( preferred
- Signal Vision ) and directly added the bulb-holder in the case the
damaged rear-light was from another producer.
They also handled this in the same style at the 505 Wagon. First lense
and holder were 2 parts, later sold in ones.
Have to agree with Brian´s words: The rear panel till and up from 1986
is DIFFERENT. The early rear-lights sat in a big hole while the newer
version only has 2 M6-holes for the fixation of the rear-light from
inside with 2 nuts like you know them from the jack rear left in the
mudguard-mould. So, best way for the convert would be to weld the new
panel in the car:
7243.49 rear panel Phase I
7243.55 rear panel Phase II

Hi, anyone know where I can get a pair (left and right) of tail lights
for a 505? I want to update the units on my '87 with some from an '89
or later model so I'd need the panel that sits between the lights as
well. I've found them brand new on a website in France for about 62
Euro which includes the bulb holders but of course shipping would
probably double that price!
